I couldn't help it...

I had planned to take a few days off, but I just couldn't help myself! I checked out this week's SCS Color Challenge (Crushed Curry, Real Red, Sahara Sand), and I saw that Kim had provided a sample, so I wanted to play along, too! I haven't played in a color challenge for such a long time, so it was fun! I have to admit, this combo threw me at first -- I'm not a huge fan of Crushed Curry (it just seems like a dirty Summer Sun to me!). But, the more I worked on this card, the more I loved it! I hope you like it, too! :)

I'm going to join my girls downstairs to watch a Christmas movie or two, so I'll keep this short. Thank you so much for the visit -- enjoy the rest of your Christmas week! :)

Gift Card Holder

Hello, everyone! Happy Thursday to you! A couple days ago my friend Traci asked me to make a card for her niece's Confirmation, and she wanted it to hold a gift card. So, I put together this card for her. It's the standard A2 size with a pocket inside to hold the gift card. It could also hold money or a treat! I used the colors from this week's SCS Color Challenge, and I also used my new Verve Stamps.

I started with a 5 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock. I scored it at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2", leaving a 2 1/2" flap to fold up for the gift card.

I placed a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of dp on the inside of the card. I scalloped the edge of the bottom panel, and I applied red line tape to the sides.

(NOTE: after I took the photo I added a second line of adhesive on both sides, closer to the center, so that the gift card would stay tight in the pocket. This isn't necessary if you are placing something larger in the pocket.)

Here is the inside of the card with the pocket folded up and a gift card inside. I added a 1 7/8" x 5 1/4" strip of dp to the pocket.

I decided to add the smaller butterfly stamp on the inside to finish it. There is still plenty of room for a personal message!

This was an easy way to make a gift card holder, and I'm sure I'll be doing it again! If you make one, link back here so I can see it! :)

That's all for today! Thank you for visiting!

Have a great day!

Practically Perfect!

Happy Wednesday! Here is my card for this week's SCS Color Challenge. It's a great color combination -- Bashful Blue, So Saffron, and Close to Cocoa. I have really been wanting to ink up this Practically Perfect set by Verve Stamps -- these colors were the perfect reason to do it! :)

It's a pretty simple design -- I just did some paper piecing, sponging, and machine stitching to give interest and texture. The papers were perfect for the challenge, and they did most of the work for me. I love it when that happens!

Thanks so much for visiting today! I always appreciate it when you stop by!

Have a great day!

SCS Challenge Cards

Happy Thursday, everyone! I'm taking a break between MFT and ATS previews so I can share some other things I worked on this week!

This first card was for last Friday's SCS Limited Supplies Challenge to use black and white only. I had a lot of fun with this, although I so badly wanted to add a splash of color! :) The main image is Enjoy the Moment, from American Art Stamp. I stamped En Francais on the white flower from the SU! Pretties Kit, and I used a Stardust pen on her hat.

My second card is for this week's SCS Color Challenge. I decided to use more of my new SU! goodies to make an SU! only card. This tree image is just so beautiful -- I know I'll be using it a lot! Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card this week, so the challenge was a good reason to make one.

Thanks for taking a look at my challenge cards! I'll be back tomorrow with previews of the new All That Scraps releases -- coming Monday, April 6!

Before I go, I wanted to let you know that Christine is celebrating the second anniversary of C.C. Designs, and she's having a SALE through April 6! Click HERE to find out more! :)

Thanks for stopping by today -- have a fantastic day!

SCS Color Challenge

Hello there! Happy Thursday! Here is my card for this week's SCS Color Challenge. I recently received some new SU! goodies, so I thought I'd do an SU! Only card. This is a beautiful set -- I don't know why I waited so long to order it!

I stamped the bird in Baja Breeze, rock-n-rolled it in Kiwi Kiss, cut it out, and mounted it on dimensionals. I sponged the edges of the image panel in Pretty in Pink ink. Everything else is pretty straightforward!

That's all for today! I'll be watching my Xavier Musketeers in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tourney tonight, so I have a few things to get finished before then! Thanks so much for visiting today! :)

Have a great day!

Challenge Cards

Happy Friday, everyone! I have two challenge cards to share with you today.

The first card is the one I made for this week's SCS Sketch Challenge. It was a fun sketch to work with, and I built the card around this BasicGrey Ambrosia paper. I have never been a big fan of orange, but this paper has made me a convert! I used the Verve Stamps set Fluttering By for the image and sentiment. I stamped the butterfly once on the image panel and again on a separate piece of dp. I heat embossed the second butterfly, cut it out, and mounted it over the first. I embellished with Dew Drops, black organdy ribbon, and piercing. The background paper was embossed with my Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots embossing folder.

My second card is for this week's SCS Color Challenge. This photo is really icky (that's my favorite technical term) -- I don't know what was wrong with my camera! I think this card is so much prettier IRL! Oh well...

The layout is Jen del Muro's Sketch for You to Try. Angel with Bunny and the sentiment are from American Art Stamp. I colored with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS, pulling the colors from the BasicGrey Sultry paper. I added Star Dust Stickles to the angel's wings. The background was embossed with the Cuttlebug and Birds & Swirls embossing folder. I embellished with ribbon and Prima Caboodles. I am in love with these flowers -- I've been using them on everything!! They are hydrangea flowers with the leaves attached. They come in many color combinations, and they are fun to work with!

Thanks for taking a look at my challenge cards! Thanks, also, for visiting today! I DO appreciate it so much! :)

Have a fantastic Friday!

What's Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! I'm the hostess for today's What's Up Wednesday Challenge on the MFT Forum at Splitcoaststampers. The challenge is to use your MFT stamps to make your own designer paper!

To create mine, I grouped the mugs from Hot Stuff together on an acrylic block, then I stamped them repeatedly on a "solid" piece of Bittersweet paper in Chocolate chip craft ink. I heat embossed with clear embossing powder to create a textured design on my background paper.

I finished the card by paper piecing the dress on the focal image and coloring the rest with Copics. I sponged around the image panel and sentiment with SU! Pink Pirouette ink. The ribbon is from May Arts.

Before I go, I want to share the card I made for yesterday's SCS Color Challenge. I had a busy day yesterday and didn't get a chance to post it! I love the beautiful summery color combination. I needed to make a sympathy card, so I used the set Comfort & Peace by Gina K. Designs.

The background was embossed with my Cuttlebug and Floral Screen folder. I used the Top Note Die on the cardstock and Bella Rose dp. I inked the image with SU! markers, and I sponged around the image and sentiment. The beautiful May Arts ribbon perfectly matched the challenge colors!

Guess what?? Tomorrow begins previews of the All That Scraps March stamps! They are so cute and springy -- I hope you'll stop back to see 'em! Thanks so much for visiting with me today!

Have a great day!

Not My Usual Color Challenge Card!

Happy Thursday! I realized I didn't share my card for this week's SCS Color Challenge, so here it is! I went in a different direction with this one -- I let the paper and cardstock do the color work, and I kept the background and ink neutral.

I'm trying to challenge myself to get away from my "usual" style now and then and to change things up a little! I've always loved the look of a white background, but for some reason I always feel the need to cover it all up! I fought the urge on this card, and I'm really happy with the result!

There's not much to explain here -- it's another SU! only card (that's twice in one week!). If you have any questions, just ask! :)

I'm glad you stopped by today -- thanks so much!

Have a fantastic day!

Heartfelt

Hi there! Just a quick post today. I am fighting a cold, but after a hot shower and a mug of tea, I was ready to tackle today's Color Challenge at SCS. I did something I haven't done in a long time -- I made an SU! Only card. It's a beautiful color combination, and I'm really happy with how the card came together!

I'm not going to give you all the blah blah today -- if you have any questions, just ask!

I'm off to drink more tea, so thanks for the visit today! I'll be back tomorrow with the ATS Wednesday Challenge!

Have a great Tuesday!

When Life Hands You Snow...

You make snowman cards! We're in the middle of a big snow storm -- several inches of snow, followed by ice, followed by several more inches of snow! Here are some photos of what I woke up to this morning...

This first photo was taken from my front porch. Look at all the ice on the tree!

Here's a view from my back door, looking across the deck.

This is the second day my kids have been off school, so it's a little crazy around here! I finally managed to sneak downstairs and stamp last night. Here's the card I made for yesterday's SCS Color Challenge -- Garden Green, Pacific Point and Baja Breeze. I wasn't loving this combo when I first saw it, but it really has grown on me! I used the set A Scarf for Three by MFT Presents, illustrated by Stephanie Fizer. The DP is Ski Slope by SU!. I colored with a combination of Copics and a blender pen & SU! inks. The hats are paper pieced with the DP.

My next card is for today's ATS Wednesday Challenge, Brads Galore. I used 14 brads along the scallops -- I don't think I have ever had that many brads on a card before! The images are from Winter Bear by C.C. Designs, and the paper is from the Be Merry collection by My Minds Eye. I colored with Copics, and I used some Icicle Stickles for the snow. The center snowman is popped up on dimensionals.

If you want to play along with the brads challenge, use keyword ATSDTC34. Then upload it to the Challenge Gallery so we can see it! Go HERE to see a list of all the challenges -- play along at any time!

Well, that's it for today! I'm going to drink my coffee and watch the snow fall! Hopefully I'll get some stamping done, too! Thanks for visiting today -- I'm so glad you stopped by!

Have a great day!

Top Note Skaters

Hi there! Happy Thursday! Here's the card I made for this week's SCS Color Challenge. I waited waaaaay too long to order Winter Post, and now I have some catching up to do! I also finally broke down and bought the Big Shot and the Top Note die -- it was a birthday present to myself! ;) You can count on seeing more of the Top Note -- I have lots of plans for it! This card is completely SU! -- I haven't done that in quite a while!

I like the way this card came together. I think I might add a pocket inside to hold a gift card -- what do you think?

I'm finishing up Caroline's classroom treats, and I have a couple other gifts to share, so I hope you'll be back! Thanks so much for stopping by today -- have a fantastic day! :)

A Color Challenge and More Exciting News!

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Here is my card for today's Color Challenge at SCS -- Going Gray, Really Rust, and Very Vanilla. The image and sentiment are from a cling mounted set by American Art Stamp. I colored with Copics and sponged around the image and sentiment with Really Rust ink. I also sponged Really Rust over the embossed background to make it pop. I pierced the scallops for a little extra texture.

Now, for my exciting news! I am now a member of the American Art Stamp Design Team!! Michelle announced it on the AAS Blog today, so I can now tell all of you! I am truly humbled to have been chosen -- the team is full of some of my stamping heros! :) I'm so excited to be able to share the fun AAS images with you -- I hope you'll love them as much as I do!

This has been an amazing week for me so far -- I feel so blessed to be able to have such great opportunities! It just goes to show that if you keep at it, good things will happen! I truly have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, and all of you are part of that! :)

I'll be back tomorrow with the ATS Wednesday challenge, and then the previews for the November ATS releases start Thursday! Thank you SO much for visiting today -- have a fantastic day! :)

Sparkly Silhouettes

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Here's my card for today's Color Challenge at SCS -- Real Red, Basic Black, and Kraft. I also did the Our Creative Corner Challenge to use silhouette stamps and sparkle!

I used my new Curved Rectangles Mega Nestabilities on the image and mat -- *love* them!! :) The horizontal panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots folder. I sponged the edges and added Icicle Stickles to the image.

That's it for today! I'll be back tomorrow with the ATS Wednesday Challenge -- I hope you'll check it out! Thank you for stopping by today -- I hope you have a great day! :)

Definitely a Color Challenge!

Has anyone seen my mojo??? I can't seem to find it anywhere! I don't know if it's the change in the weather or just a creative block, but I'm having a hard time getting my creative juices flowing! I thought I'd check out the SCS Color Challenge in hopes of jump starting things, but that didn't exactly happen! These colors are so not "me" -- but I was determined to make it work!!!

I used Pumpkin Pie instead of Tangerine Tango, and that let me use some of my Sweet Always paper. I used my Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots embossing folder on the background. I cut out the flowers, folded up the edges a little, and inserted Old Olive brads through the middle. I inked up the sentiment in Kiwi Kiss, then I wiped off the small flower and the dots. Then I used my Pumpkin Pie and Pixie Pink markers on those parts before stamping.

I'm still not sure about it, but I am glad I accepted the challenge! Tomorrow is the ATS Wednesday Challenge, so I'll have more to share with you then! Thanks so much for stopping by today -- have a fantastic day! :)

An (almost) SU! Only Card!

Hi there! Happy Tuesday to you! I took a little break from the C.C. Designs previews to play in today's SCS Color Challenge. The colors are Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, and Kiwi Kiss -- what a gorgeous autumn combination! I thought that Fresh Cuts would be a perfect set to use, and my card quickly became a Stampin' Up! card. The only deviations are the machine stitching and Dew Drops.

I stamped the background image at an angle, then I created a tag to be the focal point. I stamped the leafy image in Tangerine Tango and Kiwi Kiss, stamping off first. Then I stamped the image in Chocolate Chip Craft ink and heat embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I sponged around the image and sentiment with Chocolate Chip ink, and I also sponged the edges of the background cardstock.

Here's a closeup of the embossed image. I just love the look of the Iridescent Ice over the Chocolate Chip -- this is definitely my favorite embossing combination!

Don't forget that the October C.C. Designs sets are being released tonight! Join us at the ATS Message Board for a release party from 8-10 pm. The new sets will all be available at 10:00 pm!

Tomorrow I'll be back with my project for the ATS Wednesday Challenge! Thanks for the visit -- have a fantastic day! :)

A Monochromatic Card

Happy Tuesday! Here is my card for today's Color Challenge at SCS. The challenge is monochromatic cards. I love the look of monochromatic cards -- they're just so pleasing to the eye. For my DT work I often use images that need coloring, so therefore I tend to use a lot of color -- it was nice to stamp a little more simply today.

I stamped Linen on the card base in Old Olive classic ink. For the main image, I stamped the trees from Lovely as a Tree in Old Olive craft ink, then I heat embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I wish you could see the shimmer -- it's pretty IRL! The sentiment is from Motivational Centers by Cornish Heritage Farms -- it's one of my favorite quotes. I sponged more Old Olive around the image panel, and I embellished with Old Olive brads and ribbon.

I'll be back tomorrow with the ATS Wednesday challenge, so I hope you'll be back! Thanks so much for the visit today -- have a great day! :)

Two Challenges in One!

Hello! Happy Tuesday! I made this card for today's Color Challenge and also for yesterday's Technique Challenge (faux dry embossing). I have to say that this design didn't translate to paper the way I had planned -- it was a lot different in my head. Oh well, I think it turned out okay anyway! I was glad to use my SU! stamps -- they've been much too neglected lately!

I stamped the flourish from Baroque Motifs once in White Craft ink and again in Creamy Caramel, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig to get it positioned just right. I stamped the flowers in Rose Red, cut them out, and attached them with the black brads. I added distressing and piercing to the edges of the panels, and I sponged around the sentiment to "dirty" it up just a bit.

I did some actual dry embossing along the bottom with my Cuttlebug and Frills embossing border -- I like the way it "peeks" out from the torn cardstock. I added black satin ribbon to the front and finished the inside of the card.

Tomorrow is the ATS Challenge -- it's a fun one! I hope you'll stop back! Thanks so much for the visit today -- have a great day! :)

Color Challenge: Ruby Cocoa Blush

Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a good day! Kyle started back to school today -- one down, three to go! ;) Megan and Anna go back tomorrow, and Caroline doesn't start preschool until September 3. I'm seeing some more stamping time in my future! This card was made for today's SCS Color Challenge -- Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, and Blush Blossom. Until recently, I hardly EVER used Blush Blossom, but I'm really starting to love it! This color combination definitely pushed me over the fence -- it's just a warm, comfy combo!

The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug and Leafy Branch A2 folder. All the stamped images are from Cornish Heritage Farms. I sponged all the edges with Close to Cocoa ink, and I pierced around the image panel. The chipboard flourish is from Jigsaw Flourishes by Making Memories -- I think it's my new favorite product! I picked up three packs of them while I was at Archiver's in Columbus last weekend! Fair warning: you might see these on everything for a while! I covered this one with Ruby Red craft ink and attached it with glue dots.

I'll be back tomorrow with the ATS Wednesday Challenge -- it's a sketch challenge! I hope you'll stop by! Thanks so much for the visit today -- I really do appreciate it! :)

Comfort & Peace

Hi there! It's been a busy few days around here, and I haven't had enough time to stamp! I did get this card finished today, though -- I needed a sympathy card for a friend whose mother died after suffering a stroke. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that sympathy cards are difficult to make. We certainly don't like the reason we have to make them, and often it's not easy to find the right words to say. That's why I love this set from Gina K. Designs, Comfort & Peace. The sentiments go beyond the standard "with sympathy," and they say what I would express in person.

For this card, I combined this week's SCS Sketch Challenge and Color Challenge. Now that Groovy Guava is retiring, I'm actually starting to like it! It figures, huh? I stamped Linen on the Sahara Sand card base and distressed all the edges of the panels. I added piercing, ribbon, and half pearls. The little dragonfly is from the CHF set Nature Silhouettes.

I'm going to have a busy weekend of stamping -- I have C.C. Designs previews to finish! Also, I get to post MFTeasers beginning Monday, since I'm the My Favorite Things August Guest Designer!! Woohoo! So many great new sets to share with you -- I can't wait! Thanks for visiting today -- I hope your weekend is a great one! :)

A Color Challenge and New Rubber!

Hi there! I hope you're having a great day! Before I talk about my card, I just want to give a huge shout out to my ATS Design Teammate Dawn Easton (TreasureOiler)-- she is now a member of the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen !!!!! Whoohoo! Gongrats, Girlie!! :) The other new Dirty Girl is Emily Giovanni (emilymomto3boys). Head over to their blogs or galleries to congratulate them!! Emily hosts the weekly SCS Color Challenge, and this week's color combo was suggested by Dawn -- so I made this card in honor of them both! :)

This image and sentiment are from American Art Stamp. I recently purchased several of their stamps. I love Karen Stolper's whimsical people, and I finally had a chance to ink this one up! I colored the image with Copics, and I drew in the ground line with a black SU! marker. The image panel and matting were cut with my Rectangle Nestabilities. The background is SU! Pretty Petals. I sponged all the edges of the cardstock and paper with coordinating ink (So Saffron on the white cardstock). I mounted the image and sentiment panels on dimensionals, and I added some ribbon and Primas.

Tomorrow I'll have the ATS Wednesday Challenge for you -- it's a sketch challenge. I hope you'll stop back to check it out! Until then, have a great day!! :)

Stamps: Watering by Karen Stolper, sentiment by Kathleene Callei (American Art Stamp); Pretty Petals (SU!) Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black (Tsukineko); Wild Wasabi, Almost Amethyst, So Saffron (SU!)
