Seeds of Love

Happy Monday! Today I have another MFTeaser for you -- this time it's the set Sow Seeds of Love, illustrated by Annie LePoint. It's a beautiful image which could be used for just about anything.

I pulled the colors from the BasicGrey Lemonade paper, and I watercolored the image with an Aquapainter and SU! inks.

I took the seed theme literally, and I glued some real seeds to the corner of the image. I thought it was a fun little touch! :)

I finished the inside of the card and stamped the sentiment off-center at the bottom. There's still plenty of room for a personal note inside!

Please join me and the rest of the MFT DT for the Release Blog Hop tomorrow night! The fun will begin at Kim's Blog at 10:00 pm Eastern time. You won't want to miss it! Also, don't forget about the MFT Release Party Wednesday night from 8-10 pm at the MFT Member Company Forum.

I hope your week is off to a good start -- thanks for spending some time with me today!

Have a great day! :)

Creepy Crawlies!

Hello, everyone! Today I have my first MFTeaser of September's sets! I'm sorry there's no Sunday Supper recipe -- but my project IS food related! ;)

My Favorite Things is releasing five new sets Wednesday, September 2. Here's a look at Ghoulish Label Set. It's perfect for packaging all those Halloween treats!

I covered this wooden box with Cosmo Cricket Haunted paper, then I sanded and inked all the edges. I stamped the gooey drippy label image then stamped the spiders over it. I popped the sentiment up on dimensionals. For the tag, I stamped the sentiment ("I'll keep an eye out for you") and eye image, then I punched it out with a 1 3/8" circle punch. It's mounted on a scallop circle punch and tied on with black hemp twine. The bag is filled with gummy worms -- the perfect creepy crawlies! :)

Stop back tomorrow for another MFTeaser! Then on Tuesday evening at 10 pm Eastern we'll have the Release Blog Hop! And, of course, the fun continues with the Release Party Wednesday, September 2, from 8-10 pm on the MFT Member Company Forum. There will be chatting, more MFTeasers, and the winner of the MFT Kit Challenge will be announced!

That's all for now! I hope you are having a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Party Pumpkins

Happy Friday! Here's a fun and simple card made with Party Pumpkins from American Art Stamp. The image was colored with Copics, cut out, and mounted on dimensionals.

The paper is Haunted by Cosmo Cricket. I embellished with a big bow and a pumpkin jingle bell -- quick and easy! :)

I hope your weekend is off to a great start! Thanks so much for visiting today!

Have a fantastic Friday!

It's Ornamental!

Hello! Happy Thursday! Even though it's not quite autumn yet, this week's My Favorite Challenge is to think Christmas! The challenge is to create an ornament or holiday decoration. I used a paperboard star from Michaels to create this Joy ornament. I covered it with BasicGrey Wassail paper and used Bling Bet and MFT Adornments for the letters. I embellished the top with ribbon, Martha Stewart branch punch, and more crystals.

I used ink to antique the edges -- I really like the vintage look it gives. I used Papertrey's Ink's Chamomile Vintage Touch tea dye ink .

This is the star before antiquing. Okay, but plain.

Here is the star after sponging on the tea dye ink. Much better! :)

I hope you can play along with our Ornamental challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a great day!

ATS Color Challenge

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today's ATS Wednesday Challenge is a color challenge: Always Artichoke, Rose Red, and Basic Black. I cheated a little with the BasicGrey Urban Prairie paper, but I just *love* it! ;)

The stamp is one of the new Kiki La Rue images -- SO cute! This is Coffee Kiki, and she's just so ME in the morning (minus the curlers). I can't start my day without a big ol' mug of coffee! The sentiment is from Wardrobe Sentiments by AmyR Stamps. I colored with Copics.

Stop by the ATS Blog to see what the girls have done! I'm sure it's fabulous!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

First Day of School Photos

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I thought I'd share a few photos from our back-to-school week last week.

Kyle, a junior, was the first to go back to school on Tuesday. It was his first day to drive to school, too! His keys are around his neck, and his car is over his shoulder. He's a happy guy. :)

Megan started Wednesday. She's 15, a sophomore, and she didn't want me to take her picture. Enough said.

Caroline and Anna started Thursday. Here is Caroline on her first day of Kindergarten!

First bus ride, too! Anna, our second grader, is behind her.

All smiles after the first day of school! :)

Thanks for letting me share! I'll be back tomorrow with something stampy for you! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a great day! :)

Sunday Supper: Easy Teriyaki Chicken

Hello, and Happy Sunday! Today's Sunday Supper recipe is super easy!

Easy Teriyaki Chicken (from Fix-it and Forget-it Coobook):

2-3 lbs. skinless chicken pieces
20-oz. can pineapple chunks
dash of ground pepper
1 cup teriyaki sauce

Place chicken in slow cooker. Pour remaining ingredients over chicken. Cover. Cook on Low 6-8 hours, or High 4-6 hours. Makes 5-6 servings.

This is great over rice! Also, if you like things a little hotter (like my hubby does), add some red pepper flakes! :)

Have a great day, everyone! Don't forget to spend some time around the supper table!

School Shopping

Happy Saturday, everyone! I wanted to show you the fun I'm having with the August MFT Kit. You may know that I'm hosting the new monthly MFT Kit Challenge, where you can get creative with the kits and show us your best stuff! This month's challenge winner will be announced during the September MFT Release Party on September 2 -- and the winner gets September's kit FREE! :)

I saw this Provo Craft paper sitting on my counter, so I thought I'd created a School Shopping tote. I can see it filled with gift cards for someone going off to college, or maybe something for a teacher, too! I just love the look of black and white together! The die cut tote, Gifty Girl stamps, black dotted ribbon, silver brads, and MFT Perfect Paper Panels are all part of the kit.

Can I just tell you how CUTE the baby brads are?? Silver and red brads come with the kit. I used them on the sentiment and on the shopping bags. I paper pieced the dress with some paper from my stash, and I colored with Copics.

I will easily use up the other five totes in the kit -- they're the perfect size for tucking in a small gift or gift cards. What a great way to give gifts to friends, sisters, mothers, nieces... you get the idea. ;)

We're off to Anna's soccer game in a little while. The weather today is going to be cool -- in the low 70's -- I think fall is on the way! :)

Thanks so much for visiting today -- have a great day!

SU! Only Card

Happy Friday, everyone! Another week has flown by! I realized, when working on the My Favorite Challenge to use something uninked, that my Stampin' Up! stamps have been sorely neglected. So, here's an SU! only card -- something I rarely do anymore!

Having the kids back to school got me thinking about autumn days ahead, so I created this autumn-themed card. I inked the image in Dusty Durango, then I rock-and-rolled it in Chocolate Chip. I sponged around the image and sentiment in Crushed Curry. I added some texture by distressing the Top Note layer and crimping the Dusty Durango horizontal strip.

I think I need to play with my SU! sets more often -- they are the reason I started stamping in the first place! Hopefully I'll have another SU! card for you soon! ;)

Thanks so much for the visit today! Have a fantastic Friday!

So Much MFT to Celebrate!

Happy Thursday! It's the 20th of the month, so it's Celebrate MFT Day! It's also time for another My Favorite Challenge and another Sketch Challenge! That's a lot of MFT to celebrate! :)

Joanne is this week's hostess for the My Favorite Challenge, which is to use a set that hasn't been inked yet. It's hard to believe I have any MFT sets that haven't seen ink, but I did find Window Shopping hiding among the rest of my sets. I'm glad I finally showed it some love, because I had a lot of fun with this card! :)

This image makes me smile. I can see myself, face pressed against the window, longing for those shoes I just can't afford... does anyone else feel my pain? ;) I colored with Copics, and I paper pieced her dress. I DO love this October Afternoon paper -- I can't seem to get enough of it!

I made this Cupcake Flopsey card for this week's MFT Sketch challenge. The paper is from American Crafts. I colored and cut out Flopsey, then I mounted the image on dimensionals. I popped up the cupcake frosting, too. This card is already in the mail to a very special friend whose birthday was yesterday! It's going to be late -- sorry! :)

Now, if this isn't enough MFT fun for you yet, I have a NEW challenge to share with you! Beginning this month, we have a MFT Kit Challenge! There has been a lot of excitement about the kits, so we want to see what everyone can do with them! You can get some great ideas for getting the most out of the MFT Kits in Jody's How'd They Do That? tutorial.

Well, my kids are all back to school today. I have big plans for my three hours of solitude each day -- stamping, laundry, stamping, clean the house, stamping... ;) Actually, I know the time will be filled with all the things that life throws my way, but I am hoping to get a little more ink on my fingers!

Thanks so much for stopping by today -- have a fantastic day!

ATS Wednesday Challenge -- a Sketch

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today's ATS Challenge is this sketch from Diane Zechman (cookiestamper):

I used the set Amy's Fresh Flowers by AmyR Stamps. I inked the image with SU! ink and markers, then I spritzed it with water before stamping on the watercolor paper. I sponged the flowers (from the SU! Pretties Kit) with Baja Breeze and Old Olive inks, and I also sponged around the image and sentiment.

If you'd like to play along with us, use keyword ATSDTC60 when uploading to the SCS and ATS galleries. You can stop by the ATS Blog to see what the other girls have done with this fun sketch!

Well, today was Back-to-School, Day Two. Kyle started yesterday, and Megan started today. Anna and Caroline start tomorrow! It's been a little crazy around here, to say the least! Soon we'll be into our routine (and I'll have my afternoons free!). Until then, I'm sneaking in my stamping when I can! :)

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

When in Doubt, CASE!

Happy Monday, everyone! I've been a little bit crunched for time lately, and my mojo has taken a vacation, so I fell back on a tried-and-true method of getting a card made... I decided to CASE one!

This first card is a Make and Take that Taylored Expressions did during the CHA Supershow. Each person received the set, too -- how generous is that? :)

So, I copied the layout and made my own version -- a quick and easy CASE! :) I did a few different things to make it my own, but the card is basically the same. I could easily change the set, the sentiment, and the papers any time -- lots of possiblities from one card!

I hope this gives you some ideas for jump starting your mojo... and if you see mine, let me know, okay? ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a great day!

Sunday Supper: Back-to-School Meal!

Happy Sunday, everyone! It's been a busy week filled with school parent meetings, soccer scrimmages, shoe shopping, and our school's end-of-summer festival. I haven't stamped anything in four days!!! That WILL change this week -- when my kids go back to school! They are in three schools with three starting dates -- Kyle on Tuesday, Megan on Wednesday, and Anna and Caroline on Thursday! Crazy!

My Sunday Supper recipe, therefore, is an EASY one -- perfect for those first days of back-to-school! Serve it with pasta, salad and bread for a quick and tasty meal for your busy family! :)

Crisp Garlic Chicken (from Southern Living Busy Mom's Weeknight Favorites)

1 tsp. bottled minced garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 (6-oz) skinned and boned chicken breasts

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Combine garlic and olive oil in a small mirowave-safe bowl; microwave at HIGH 30 to 45 seconds or just until warm. Combine breadcrumbs, cheese, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dip chicken in warm olive oil; dredge in breadcrumb mixture. Place chicken on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until chicken is golden.

This morning we're going to an open house to meet Caroline's kindergarten teacher! I can't believe my baby is starting kindergarten! I hope you have something great planned for your day! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Have a great day!

Back to School!

Happy Thursday, everyone! Today's My Favorite Challenge has a Back to School theme. I used my new October Afternoon paper, which I picked up during my CHA shopping spree with Joanne. The dictionary and apple patterns are perfect for a back to school card! I combined two MFT sets, The Poppies and Teacher, Teacher Label Set.

A week from today, all my kids will be back in school! Where did the summer go? We still have to shop for shoes and school supplies!

Thank you so much for visiting today! I always appreciate it when you stop by! :)

Have a great day!

Simple Boy Birthday

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Today's card is one I made for my nephew's birthday. He just turned 8, so I wanted to do something simple and "grown up" for him. I used two sets from Verve Stamps and some BasicGrey Archaic paper. I stamped the stars on the patterned paper and cut them out. I just added some distressing and piercing, and that was about it!

I often have a difficult time with boy cards, so keeping it simple really helped! Boys don't like all that frilly stuff, you know! ;)

That's it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Tisket, A Tasket... What's in Your Basket?

Happy Monday, everyone! While shopping at the CHA Supershow, several of us spent quite a bit of time (and money) at the Papertrey Ink booth. To be sure we all actually used some of our new loot, Leigh O'Brien issued a challenge: choose any basket from Vintage Picnic and fill it with whatever we want! Carole named it our "Mother Button Son-of-a-Basket Challenge." ;)

I saw Rascal Flatts in concert Saturday night (AWESOME!!), and their song "Summer Nights" inspired this card. My favorite line from the song goes, "Summer Nights, everybody are you with me, let that Igloo cooler mark your piece of paradise." So, here it is, my ode to summer: a basket filled with ice cold beverages! :) I used the bottle from MFT's Let's Hear it for the Boys, and I did quite a bit of masking to get all the bottles in the basket. I picked up this October Afternoon paper at the show, so I HAD to use it, too! I paper pieced the basket and colored with Copics. I did some machine stitching around the paper panel and some sponging around the image panel.

Okay, now check out how the other girls have stuffed their baskets!

CHA!!

Happy Saturday, everyone! I finally have CHA photos to share with you! Warning: this is a LONG post! :)

I have to start by saying that I had THE best time! I found myself surrounded by many of my stamping heros and online friends, and it was a dream come true! I'll do my best to give you the recap of a whirlwind two days at the CHA Supershow!!

Here's a shot of the fabulous MFT Lady, Kim van der Sanden, and her daughter Brianna Smith at the My Favorite Things booth on Friday. Since Kim lives close to Orlando, her family was there for the entire show. A big thank you to Kim, Martin, Brianna and Emma for all their hospitality! :)

It was so great to meet so many friends at the Splitcoaststampers booth. Here I am with THE Beate Johns (Beate) and Bev Gerard (TexasGrammy). I can't tell you how sweet and kind they both are!

More hugs and smiles with Joanne Basile (basilefamily) and Bonnie Sharp (eggette). I was so excited to meet Bonnie -- she's just fantastic!

The MFT Girls meet the Unity Girls! From left to right: Jennifer Buck, Sherry Campbell, Jimmi Mayo, Kirsten DuBosque, Maren Benedict, Carole Burrage, Joanne, and me.

Friday night we went to Tommy Bahama's for the MFT Cocktail Party. We had a blast! Here's a photo of the '69 Club: Amy Rohl (rohla), Beate, and Carole. Amy is on the American Art Stamp team with me, so it was a joy to meet her!

This is MFT illustrator Christy Beckwith and Kathy Daume' (20something), cheezin' it up! :)

Here I am with Kirsten DuBosque (ked). I LOVE this girl! Not only is she multi-talented, but she has the most contagious laugh and is SO stinkin' funny! We spent a lot of time together during the show, shopping and laughing! I miss you, girl! :)

My wonderful MFT friends! :)

Jody Morrow (texasjodylynn), Carole (TruCarMa), and Joanne. These three ladies are superstars in my book! They're smart, funny, obscenely talented, and absolutely fabulous! I'm honored to call them my friends!

Having a little fun with Carole while preparing make & takes Saturday. To the left is Kim's daughter Emma. She is just adorable!

Here we are, together at last -- the MFT My Favorite Challenge hostesses! Before CHA, Joanne and I had only emailed and chatted on the phone. It was SO great to finally meet her in person! We shopped, we talked, we laughed until we cried! I feel like I've known her forever, and I was holding back tears as we said good bye Saturday. I miss you, sweet friend! :)

There were so many more stampers I met during the show -- I wish I had photos of everyone! It was a thrill for me to be in such amazing company! :)

Thanks for letting me share my CHA experience with you! And, as always, thanks for stopping by! Now, more than ever, I'm convinced that papercrafters are the most warm, welcoming, and encouraging people around! I'm thankful for this hobby that has brought me so much happiness and has given me some of my best friends! Thank YOU for being a big part of it! :)

Have a wonderful day!

ATS Friday Review

TGIF!! Today's ATS Friday Review is of the new C.C. Designs Swiss Pixies. This is Heidi Among the Flowers. Since I'm still having a love affair with this Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper, I HAD to use it with this sweet image! :) The sentiment is from Thank You Sentiments by AmyR Stamps.

I colored with Copics and machine stitched around the panels. I used a little bit of Icicle Stickles on her wing, but it's difficult to see in the photo!

Stop by the ATS Blog later on today to see what the rest of the team has done with the Pixies! I'm sure you won't be disappointed! :)

Thanks for the visit today! Tomorrow I'll share my photos from CHA! :)

Have a fantastic Friday!

Black and White

Happy Thursday! It's time for another MFT My Favorite Challenge! This week's challenge is to make something Black and White. The image may have color, but everything else must be black and white.

While Joanne and I were shopping at the CHA Supershow, I picked up this fun salt and pepper paper, and it was the inspiration for the challenge. I paired it with Who's That Grillin' Guy?. I colored and paper pieced the image, and I popped up the hot dogs. I {heart} this ribbon -- it's from MFT's Perfect Plaid Ribbon.

I feel like I'm finally getting back into a groove after being gone last week. Why does it take so long to get back to a normal routine again?!? Anyway, I'm so glad you took time to stop by today -- thank you so much! :)

Have a great day!

Hop into Books!

Hi there! Welcome to my stop on the August MFT Blog Hop! If you didn't begin at Kim's Blog, hop on back and start from there! Did you know that My Favorite Things is releasing four new sets tomorrow (Wednesday) night? They're all SO cute! I used the new Stephanie Fizer set I {Heart} Books for my projects here.

I created a narrow (5.5" x 3.25") pocket card and matching bookmark. The paper is from Stephanie Fizer's School Collection digi papers. The red button and yellow ribbon are also from MFT.

To complete the set, I made some book labels for my girls to use in their books. I printed out the words on address labels (1 1/3" x 4"), then I stamped and colored the images. All coloring was done with Copics.

I hope you can join us on the MFT Member Company Forum tomorrow night from 8-10 pm Eastern for the Release Cocktail Party! We'll have more teasers and lots of chatter, and the winner of the One Click Challenge will be announced!

Okay, now it's time to hop over to see what the multi-talented Kathy Daume' has to show you! I'm sure it's something fabulous! Thanks so much for hopping by! :)

Grow Love

Happy Tuesday, everyone! It's a gray, rainy day here with thunderstorms all morning. I slept in way too late -- I haven't done that in a long time! Here's another MFTeaser of the set Grow Love. I kept the layout simple, so I could paper piece this trio of trees. I inked up only part of the sentiment -- the entire thing reads "Grow love, plant a tree." I added some distressing, sponging, and machine stitching, and I stamped the leaf cluster image randomly at the bottom near the sentiment.

Don't forget about the My Favorite Things Release Blog Hop TONIGHT at 10 pm Eastern! Then be sure to join us tomorrow night on the MFT Member Company Forum tomorrow from 8-10 pm Eastern before the four new sets are released! :)

I'm off to try to get something done -- it's just so difficult to stay motivated on this rainy day! I'll see you all back here tonight for the HOP! :)

Have a great day!

Happy Haunting

Hi there! Happy Monday to you! I'm back from CHA -- I had a great weekend! There were lots of hugs and laughs with my MFT teammates and Splitcoaststampers friends -- I'll share the photos later this week! :)

Today, though, I have a MFTeaser for you! It's a peek at the set Trick or Treat with Who's That Girl. My favorite bunny made an appearance as a trick-or-treater -- how cute! I colored with Copics and paper pieced WTG's dress.

My Favorite Things is releasing four new sets Wednesday! The fun begins with a Blog Hop tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 10:00 pm Eastern. Then join us on the MFT Member Company Forum Wednesday night from 8-10 pm before the sets are released! Create a Recipe

Happy Sunday! Today, instead of a Sunday Supper recipe, I have recipe cards! I made these with the new set from Cookie Crumbs Stamps called Create a Recipe. There are 16 different images to put on your recipe cards, so you can categorize your recipes!

I can think of SO many uses for this set:
*Cookie Exchanges
*Pot Luck gatherings
*Attach a recipe to a baked gift
*Create an album of family favorite recipes (great bridal shower gift!)
*Or just sharing your recipes with friends!

A hand-stamped recipe card tied to a homemade baked treat -- what could be better? :)

Be sure to stop by the ATS Blog to see more samples of this set and all the new releases! They'll be available tomorrow (Monday) night at 10:00 pm at All That Scraps! Stop by and chat with us on the Message Board at 8:00 pm Eastern before the sets go live!

As you read this, I'm probably on my way home from Orlando! I can't wait to share my CHA experience with you! Thanks for taking the time to visit today! :)

Have a great day!
