Two Challenges in One!

Good morning! I was hoping to get this posted last night, but the computer was occupied for quite a while by Chris and the kids. Are work and homework really more important than my blog? ;) This is the card I created for the Color Challenge at SCS and for Jen70's blog challenge to make a Christmas card. Cardstock is Old Olive, More Mustard, and Whisper White, and the paper is from last year's Holiday Mini Catalog. Images are from Season of Joy, and the sentiment is from Gina K. Designs. I needed something small to fit on the snowflake, and it worked perfectly! Ink is Old Olive, Bashful Blue, White Craft, and More Mustard & Chocolate Chip markers (for the star and tree trunk).

The stamping is pretty straightforward, but I wanted to show you the fold I used on this card. I created a "hinge" for it by scoring the front of the card 3/4" to the right of the fold. I used my Snail Adhesive to attach the 3/4" area to the back of the card, so the card opens at the "new" fold. (see photo above). To embellish the hinge, I punched circles out of the holiday paper with a 3/4" circle punch and inserted More Mustard Brads through them.
To embellish the card, I added piercing and sponging with Bashful Blue around the tree, glitter glue (Sulyn Industries) on the tree and snowflake, spiral clip (Creative Impressions) and Bashful Blue ribbon. I used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches for the snowflake circle.
I like these non-traditional colors on this Christmas card. I still haven't decided what card I'm making for Christmas -- I need to get that figured out soon! Thanks for stopping by! :)
All products Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
