Color Challenge: Groovy Artichokes

When I saw today's Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, I wasn't sure I wanted to tackle it. It seems like forever since I've done a color challenge, and today's colors (Groovy Guava and Always Artichoke) just weren't doing it for me. Along came my BasicGrey Stella Ruby paper to the rescue!!! One of the "unpatterned" sheets is a muted background which has shades of those two colors in it -- a perfect way to pull everything together. The set I used is Priceless.

On the card base, I stamped the image repeatedly with Versamark and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. On the vertical side panel, I stamped the small flower and small dotted circle directly on the Stella Ruby paper with Always Artichoke ink. I layered that on Groovy Guava cardstock. For the image panel, I first stamped the flourish and sentiment with Always Artichoke ink. I inked the flower in Groovy Guava, used my Always Artichoke marker on the dots, then stamped and cut out the image. It is attached to the panel with a Rich Regals brad. I sponged the Whisper White panel and the flower with Groovy Guava and added piercing on the corner. I also pierced down both sides of the side panel. I distressed the cardstock panels with my Cutter Kit and punched an opening for the ribbon with my Horizontal Slot Punch. The ribbon is a sage organdy from Horizon Fabrics. The image panel is mounted on Stampin' Dimensionals.

I'm glad I decided to tackle this color challenge -- I'm happy with the result! Thanks for visiting -- have a great day! :)

Your card turned out wonderfully! I wasn't too big on this CC when I first saw it either. Best to tackle those obstacles though! You did awesome!
